Super Speak is calling all emerging & experienced teachers to join our team.

We are currently recruiting for two exciting positions:

1. Drama Teacher (fixed term employment on hourly rate); and

2. Area Manager & Drama Teacher (permanent employment: full time or part time).

POSITION 1 – DRAMA TEACHER:

8 – 22 hours a week
Attractive hourly rate based on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for passionate teachers with experience in either drama, speech and drama, performing arts, public speaking or acting to join our team as a teacher.

This teaching position is for an immediate start and offers between 8 – 22 hours a week teaching at venues across Melbourne (whichever locations suit the applicant). This is a fixed term contract to teach at the same venue each week during school term. Immediate start, or as soon as possible.

Classes are generally run between 4.00pm and 8.00pm weeknights and 10.00am to 3.30pm Saturday at various locations across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.

With 17+ venues across Melbourne with more to come, we should have some convenient to you!

This would be suitable for people who are able to teach with us for a minimum 12 month period, or longer.

ABOUT YOU:

You have a strong background in teaching or performing arts and have gravitated toward education because you believe in the power of speech & drama to positively affect the lives of young people.

If you are an actor / performing artist, this position will only be suitable if you can commit to the agreed teaching times consistently each week for at least an 12 month period.

You will be someone that has:

  • a fun, professional nature and are able to relate well to children & parents
  • excellent verbal communication skills, positive attitude & self-motivation
  • some teaching experience, or natural aptitude
  • availability to work outside school hours
  • experience teaching children aged 6 – 14 years
  • either a VIT registration or a Work With Children Check card

Applicants must own a reliable car and mobile phone. The candidate is also required to be involved in paid training sessions twice a year.

POSITION 2 – AREA MANAGER & DRAMA TEACHER

(Full Time or Permanent Part Time)

Salary negotiable based on experience

Super Speak is a well established Melbourne based education company that delivers a fun & educational public speaking & drama program to children across Melbourne & Australia.

Super Speak has been trusted by over 60,000 students since 2006. Through our award-winning curriculum, fun approach to learning and passionate teaching team, we help children improve their communication skills & confidence for life.

Join our talented team who deliver the program to children aged 6-14 across 17 Melbourne venues each week.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We have an exciting opportunity for a new member to join our team in the role of Area Manager & Drama Teacher.

This role would suit either a junior or experienced person with experience in either drama, speech and drama, performing arts or public speaking.

The contact hours will be permanent part time or full time, whatever suits the successful candidate.

You will report to the principal and be responsible for teaching in & management of either our South/East or North/East Melbourne territory which consist of approximately 6-8 venues each (whichever suits your location).

Time is split between teaching and supporting/managing venues and teachers across your territory and working from our Malvern East office.

This is a hands-on & varied role with opportunity to add value including taking part in the strategic development of Super Speak as we continue to grow.

  • Teacher & parent communication

ABOUT YOU:

You are passionate in teaching either drama, speech & drama, primary education, performing arts or public speaking to children.

You may be one of the below:

  • someone with a natural aptitude for teaching with experience attending drama, performing arts or speech & drama classes through your teen years; or
  • someone with experience teaching children aged 6-14; or
  • a performer or actor with teaching experience looking to make a change away from performing and into a more stable long term employment opportunity; or
  • a primary teacher, secondary teacher or drama / performing arts teacher seeking a change away from the schooling system into a more entrepreneurial, hands-on and practical role

Most hours for a full time Area Manager will be approx between 12pm-8pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9.00am – 3.30pm (Saturday), but there may be options to alter these hours during school holidays and during quieter weeks.

You will be comfortable being “hands-on” to ensure your venues are operating smoothly and that your teachers are well supported. You will travel between your venues within your territory as required.

As well as the above, you will be someone that:

  • has a fun, professional nature and able to relate well to children and parents
  • has excellent verbal communication skills, organizational skills and a “can do” attitude
  • is self motivated with a history of exceeding expectations
  • prides themselves on their work ethic, reliability and punctuality
  • has a current Work With Children Check card or a VIT registration
  • has a reliable car & driver’s license
  • has a proficiency in Microsoft word & a professional phone manner

It is desirable but not essential for you to have a tertiary qualification (either arts, performance or teaching) or an equivalent professional experience or significant other training – ie. in speech & drama, acting or drama schooling throughout teen years.
