Our Teachers

• • Skilled teachers, with many holding a university teaching degree or equivalent. This means they are skilled at teaching children in a way that will achieve the best learning outcomes for our students.
  • Experienced teachers with regular training in public speaking and drama. Our teachers are mature & experienced at teaching groups of children and are great role models for young people. The average teaching experience of our teachers is over 10 years each (over 2,500 teaching hours each), with many having had over 20 years experience (over 5,000 teaching hours each).
  • Confident & effective speakers. This means our teachers are effective speakers themselves and model great public speaking & communication skills to their students.
  • Holders of a current Victorian Institute of Teaching or WWCC card. This means they have the police checks and are permitted to work with children.

  • Supported: our director, principal & area managers, who have been professional leaders with-in the industry for several decades, also attend classes during the semester to support teacher & student development.

Vicki Skyring – Principal & Founder

Over 30 years experience teaching children aged 6-14

Vicki is a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching with over 30 years teaching experience across the subjects of Drama, Speech & Drama and English. She has worked as a private speech coach, a director in youth theatres and as a teacher in schools across QLD, NSW and Victoria.

Vicki is an accredited Trinity Guildhall Speech & Drama teacher. Her interest in Speech & Drama has extended into being an adjudicator for Victorian Speech & Drama Eisteddfods and an active member of the Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Victoria.

Vicki participates in regular professional development training to continually advance her teaching skills and knowledge. Vicki strives to ensure her teaching style and methods motivate, stimulate and challenge her students to maximise their learning experiences in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Jemma – Principal Support

Over 20 years experience teaching children aged 6-14

Jemma has been a teacher at Super Speak since 2013 and an Area Manager since 2016.

Having been a student of Voice, Speech and Drama since the age of 7 it was a natural progression that Jemma too would become a teacher of the same field. Throughout her time as a student she completed each grade level through Trinity Guildhall college of London. After completing her Grade 8 certification in 2003 she went on to complete her Associate of Teaching Speech and Communication Skills in 2009. Jemma is a registered member of the Speech & Drama Teachers Association of Victoria and has been an adjudicator for the Rotary Club of Richmond & Melbourne Park’s annual Public Speaking Festival.

Throughout her years as a student and teacher she has had much experience both on and off speaking platforms and stages. Alongside her teaching qualifications, Jemma has also completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Psychophysiology and a Certificate IV in Mental Health at Swinburne University.

Jemma believes that Speech and Drama is a valuable subject that teaches children how to clearly and confidently communicate to a variety of audiences, and equips them with essential life attributes such as effective conversation skills and quick, creative thinking.

Jemma is especially passionate about the development of confidence in her students and believes that giving children the right platform to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences through Speech & Drama aids their development of courage and self.

Alex – Area Manager & Teacher

Speech, drama and acting have always been a passion for Alex. From performing in stage productions, to appearing in television series such as Hamish & Andy’s True Story, Alex has never shied away from exploring and developing her creativity and vocal skills through her passion for the Creative Arts.

Alex has completed a Bachelor in Creative Arts majoring in Drama, at Deakin University. She has since gone on to explore other avenues recently finding a passion for teaching. Alex previously worked as a drama teacher in primary school settings where she enjoyed exploring creative freedom & dramatic play throughout her classes with heavy emphasis on improvisation. Alex has has over 6 years experience teaching children aged 6-14.

Alex firmly believes in encouraging students to be the best version of themselves by having a go, and supporting each other to create a safe environment to express themselves. She believes public speaking is an integral part of a child’s development and Super Speak classes are the perfect platform to explore this further by gaining confidence, making new friends and having fun along the way. Alex is a spirited, fun and enthusiastic teacher loves to see her students discover their full capabilities.

Claire – Area Manager & Teacher

Claire has had a lifelong passion for the creative arts, ignited by her love of singing, acting and public speaking. She honed her talents throughout her childhood, into high school, and further developed them at university, where she earned a Bachelor of Creative Arts with a major in Theatre. After graduation, Claire discovered a passion for teaching, particularly in English and Drama, and she is in the process of completing her Masters in Secondary Teaching. With eight years of professional nannying experience, Claire transitioned to Super Speak, where she inspires and educates young minds through communication, confidence, and performance skills. Claire is dedicated to nurturing her students’ academic and personal growth with empathy, a love of learning, and a focus on self-expression

Alexandra – Area Manager & Teacher

Ali has always had a passion for drama and performance, which married perfectly with her love of teaching and helping others. Ali holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Drama from Queensland University of Technology and has a wide range of experience with different theatre opportunities, including puppeteering, acting on stage as well as operating the sound and lighting behind the scenes at Metro Arts. She has a personal affinity for theatre and uses drama as a means to explore students’ ideas and stories and help them to be shared with others in meaningful ways.

Ali has over 5 years’ experience teaching children speech and drama skills in both Australia and Japan. Working with children aged 3-15 in a range of learning environments Ali has helped her students to develop their own public speaking toolkit and present themselves with confidence. During her time living and working overseas Ali designed and facilitated English classes and drama workshops that lead students to develop their English, pronunciation, physicality, expression and projection towards exam and performance outcomes. In her classroom Ali fosters a fun and inclusive learning environment so that students feel safe and supported to embrace their potential.

Gavin – Teacher

Gavin has been an actor, musician, comedian, writer, filmmaker, and public speaker with over 20 years of professional experience.

He completed his actor training at the University of Southern QLD, and has performed with professional organisations such as the QLD Theatre Company, Opera Australia, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, both Adelaide & Melbourne Fringe Festivals, to name a few. Gavin has also appeared in feature films, national & international TV commercials.

Gavin works in the sport industry as well, being the Stadium Announcer for many professional sports organisations, including Marvel Stadium, the Australian Boomers basketball team, NBL, WNBL, NBL1, AFL, and AFLW – as well as running his own historical walking tour. Other sporting passions he has are coaching children in football and basketball.

Alongside performing, Gavin also has a Masters of Screenwriting from VCA and is a filmmaker – also teaching filmmaking to adults at Neighbourhood Houses around Melbourne.

Gavin has a heart to see children develop into their best selves, be that on the sporting field, in front of audiences as storytellers or comedians, as well as the path that child wants to walk. He has has over 10 years experience teaching children aged 6-14.Through Super Speak, he aims to help each of his students to be able to communicate to “captive ears”, in order to engage in their communities, and enrich their own lives.

Jessica – Teacher

Jessica’s passion for teaching speech and drama stems from her own experience as a shy child who found her voice and confidence after starting speech and drama classes at age seven. That once shy child went on to have a theatrical career that took her to stages all over the world after completing her Bachelor’s degree, specialising in voice, at the Victorian College of the Arts.

One of Jessica’s proudest achievements was being selected to represent Australia in Las Angeles at the World Championships of Performing Arts, where she received gold medals in the Dramatic Monologue section and the Operatic Aria section as well receiving the Industry Award and a scholarship to study at The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. A believer in life long learning, Jessica has also completed post-graduate theatre studies at The Associated Studios in London and at The Berlin Opera Academy, as well as training for screen at The Film and Television Studio International in South Melbourne.

Alongside her theatrical career, Jessica has always had a passion for teaching children, constantly finding inspiration in seeing them develop skills and confidence that will carry them through life. She began working in Early Childcare in 2003 and went on to begin teaching senior school music and drama in 2012. Taking a wholistic approach to education, and catering for the diverse needs of her students, Jessica builds on the strengths of each individual child so that all have the opportunity to grow and have fun along the way.

Lou – Teacher

From the age of twelve Lou has been involved in the dramatic arts. She is a graduate of Queensland University of Technology obtaining an Arts degree in Drama and a Graduate Diploma in Drama teaching. She has over 20 years experience teaching children aged 6-14.

Since graduation Lou has worked extensively across Australia as an arts educator and as a performer in a variety of roles. She has worked as artist in resident in many different primary and secondary schools and enjoyed bringing skills to thousands of students in acting, voice, movement and communication. Lou has also been employed as a primary and high school performing arts teacher, a teacher of circus, a children’s theatre director and as an actor for theatre, screen and corporate events. Alongside her teaching, Lou is also a passionate visual artist and illustrator.

Lou firmly believes that drama and the public speaking can give young people practical tools to enhance and indeed cement confidence and self-expression. She believes that everyone has the right to be seen and heard and recognises that Super Speak classes are a wonderful platform to do just this. Her classes aim to be fun, insightful and give young people the tools in communication to aid in their development and their personal power.

Roisin – Teacher

Roisin gained her BA(hons) in Performance at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She studied Voice work under Cath Baxter, studying the Alexander Technique, vocal warm ups, accents & phonetics, public speaking including, political speeches, Shakespearian sonnets and poetry recitation. Roisin also gained her Lamda Gold qualification in both Acting and The Speaking of Verse and Prose.

Roisin has been a professional actress and was involved Theatre in Education working with the LaughingStock Co.

Roisin has had over 15 years experience teaching children aged 6-14. She has taught Voice work, Drama, Singing and Dance in various theatre schools and primary schools.

Roisin is a bubbly, fun and caring teacher who has a passion for teaching and working with children to help them realise their potential and discover their confidence.

Kate – Teacher

Kate began her career as a singer, actress, and dancer, performing in England, on London’s West End, and internationally. She met her husband while performing at the London Palladium, and together they eventually settled in Melbourne, where they raised six children.

With decades of experience in the performing arts, Kate has taught singing, acting, and dance to students of all ages, both privately and in schools, and for ten years ran a successful musical theatre workshop company with her husband. She has directed, choreographed, and musically directed numerous productions for schools and community theatre groups, and is also an accomplished composer, writer, and public speaker.

Kate’s passion for teaching and the performing arts shines through in her work. Drawing on her extensive experience on stage and in the classroom, she inspires confidence, creativity, and growth in each of her students, helping them develop their skills and find joy in public speaking & performance.

Kate loves to work with young people and help them fulfil their highest potential. She is extremely happy to be working for Super Speak, such a caring and nurturing company.

Row – Teacher

Rowany/(Row) is an award-winning director, playwright, and performer with a genuine passion for the arts and public speaking. With over ten years of experience in education and business management, Row is dedicated to inspiring and empowering people to reach their full potential!

Her can-do attitude has led to a diverse career – from working as a nurse, managing weddings, leading VIP events and producing global top-rated escape room experiences. Row is also a trained singer and improviser, who brings vocal confidence, creativity, and warmth to every project she undertakes.

At Super Speak, you’ll find Row fostering a safe and fun environment where students are encouraged to find their voice, express themselves authentically, and shine!

Dee – Teacher

Dee has a Bachelor of Education majoring in Drama and Dance from Victoria College Rusden and a Graduate Diploma of Education in Primary Teaching from Monash University. She has  experience teaching in Melbourne and Japan, working with students aged 3 to 60 for over 25 years. Dee has taught Drama, Dance and Movement, Performing Arts, and English as a Second Language, in primary and higher education settings.

Dee’s fun and friendly style of teaching supports her students to work to the best of their potential, building their self confidence and developing effective communication skills.

Terri – Teacher

Terri has been performing for as long as she can remember, starting out in theatrical showcase classes at just two years old, and she’s still performing today!

Her love for musical theatre and drama has grown over the years, and she’s taken part in countless productions both at school and local theatres. She’s always had a natural flair for performing and public speaking and loves helping others build their own confidence.

Alongside performing, Terri has plenty of experience working with students. She currently teaches Greek language to primary-aged children and has spent several years supporting classrooms and creative programs across Melbourne. Through these experiences, she’s discovered how much she enjoys helping young people learn, express themselves, and find their voice.

Terri is currently completing her Bachelor of Science/Arts at Monash University and is excited to continue into a Master of Teaching (Secondary) to pursue her passion for education. She’s passionate about combining her love of performance and education to create fun, supportive spaces where kids can shine.

Portia- Teacher

Portia moved to Melbourne to pursue her love of performing and teaching. Since a young age Portia has always had a passion for performing and the arts. Portia began her training at Hinterland Dance Academy, performing at her local theatre ‘Spotlight Theatre’, and majoring in the arts at high school. In 2020, she completed a Cert IV in Musical Theatre in her first year at the Brisbane Academy of Musical Theatre. She then continued her studies there in the Performance Course for 2021, performing a range of professional shows.

The last 5 years she found a love for teaching and inspiring the next generation and begun working within the industry as a drama tutor for ages prep – grade 6 at ZigZag Theatre Company as well as a Singing and Musical Theatre Teacher at HIPA Studios. Alongside this she was working as an Entertainer at Dreamworld, performing Singing and Character Suit work.

She is thrilled to be able to continue teaching and inspiring the next generation at Super Speak as she knows the importance of developing and nurturing a child’s creativity and confidence through teaching Public Speaking and drama.
